Much has been made about LeBron James‘ relationship with Kevin Love, though the Cleveland Cavaliers star and NBA icon says there’s nothing to it. Of course, when he gives quotes like he recently did, it does nothing more than pour gasoline on an already burning fire.
Case in point, James was speaking about the Cavs roster and suggested that he only has three good friends in the NBA – Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade. After that, the rest of the players are nothing more than ‘teammates’.
Granted there’s nothing wrong with saying that and it’s presumably an accurate assessment. But did he really need to bring that subject up?!
“People get so infatuated with the best of friends, things of that nature,” James said. “First of all, I’ve got three very good friends in this league, and that’s Carmelo (Anthony), and that’s C.P. (Chris Paul), and that’s D-Wade. And after that I have a bunch of teammates. I have guys I ride for every day.”
Perhaps LeBron James would have been best served by simply keeping his mouth shut here because such a suggestion will get blown out of proportion. You’d think that would be something King James knows given every time he speaks it’s dissected more than a frog in an 8th grade science class.
It’s clear that it wasn’t a shot at Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving or any other player on the Cleveland Cavaliers roster, but some might take it that way.
