When the Charlotte Hornets signed Lance Stephenson this offseason, they felt as if they were getting a franchise altering guard. What they didn’t expect was for Stephenson to struggle and it appears the front office is having a bit of buyers remorse.
Stephenson’s name has routinely been mentioned in trade rumors and one team continually referenced to having interest in the veteran is his former team, the Indiana Pacers who are said to be an “ideal” fit by Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report.
More importantly, Bucher goes on to suggest he doesn’t feel as if there are many situations out there with Lance Stephenson will thrive, though cites the Pacers as one of the few (and possibly only).
Indiana does have a need for Lance Stephenson, at least from a positional standpoint, though with his newly minted contract it’s questionable if they could afford him (or would be interested in doing so).
One thing is for certain, if the Charlotte Hornets do decide to trade Lance Stephenson, they’ll be selling at his low point and any return they receive isn’t likely to be very impressive.
For now it appears they’re holding out for better offers, though getting such will likely prove to be rather difficult.
