There’s no denying the talent of Charlotte Hornets guard Lance Stephenson, though he’s proven himself to be a bit of a knucklehead. Somewhat of a modern day Ron Artest, Stephenson routinely finds himself dealing with controversy, much like today after he decided to body check his former Indiana Pacers teammate Roy Hibbert.
Stephenson, who tends to get off on irritating his opponent was none too happy with a no-call on Hibbert and expressed his frustration to officials as he and the big man made their way down the court.
Understandably the ref wasn’t interested in what Lance Stephenson was saying, so the former Pacers guard decided to vent his displeasure on Hibbert himself. How? With a body check.
Now granted, Roy Hibbert does have some poundage on Lance Stephenson though it’s believable that the thrust along with the lack of expecting the hit would be enough to knock the former Georgetown product off his feet.
Why exactly Lance Stephenson felt the need to do such is unknown, though why he does a lot of things is not known. What is known is that the Charlotte Hornets are having a bit of buyers remorse after signing the swingman to a hefty contract this past offseason and are said to be exploring potential trades involving Stephenson.
