LaMarcus Aldridge Could Sign With Spurs Say NBA Executives

LaMarcus Aldridge

I’m not sure what the San Antonio Spurs did to become one of the NBA’s best franchises over the past few decades. From nabbing David Robinson to lucking into Tim Duncan, it seems evident the Spurs have sold their souls.

They also have a damn good scouting department, one that apparently likes LaMarcus Aldridge of the Portland Trail Blazers. Of course, there’s no way Aldridge would find his way to The Alamo though, right? Probably not, though a few NBA executives believe it’s completely possible as noted by Grantland’s Zach Lowe.

This could be random, but nearly a half-dozen executives from different teams mentioned the possibility of the Spurs luring LaMarcus Aldridge in free agency with a max contract.

For what it’s worth, Lowe, who is extremely plugged in around the league questions such taking place, especially considering LaMarcus Aldridge has already stated his desire to re-sign with the Portland Trail Blazers. Still, when push comes to shove and one of professional sports’ best franchises (not just NBA) is offering you a maximum level deal, it might be tempting.

It’s difficult to imagine Aldridge leaving the Blazers, though if there’s one team who would seemingly have a chance to pluck him away, you have to think the Spurs might be atop that list.
