Lakers To Offer Jimmy Butler, Greg Monroe Max Contracts?

Jimmy Butler

It’s been another dark season for the Los Angeles Lakers, though there is light at the end of the tunnel in regards to cap space. Of course, fans of the franchise have heard that before though going after players like Greg Monroe and Jimmy Butler are much more obtainable than the LeBron James‘ and Carmelo Anthony‘s of the world.

And that’s exactly what the alleged plan is as the Lakers rumors mill suggests both Monroe and Butler will be targets come free agency and max level contracts could be coming their way.

A strong perimeter defender, Butler has blossomed into the Bulls’ best offensive player and an All-Star, averaging 20.6 points. Teams are going to offer a max deal (hello, Los Angeles Lakers), and the Bulls would be hard-pressed not to match.

In the same report, USA Today would go on to suggest Greg Monroe as another player the Lakers will have their eyes (and money) set on.

Assuming the Lakers are to decline Jordan Hill‘s team option, they’ll only have the salaries of Kobe Bryant, Nick Young and some of the young players like Julius Randle on the books. That means they could sign at least one, possibly both if they get creative financially.
