NBA Rumors: Lakers, Rockets Interested In Goran Dragic Trade

Goran Dragic 2

The LA Lakers and Houston Rockets are interested in Goran Dragic of the Phoenix Suns.

It appears as if the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets aren’t the only teams to have interest in Phoenix Suns point guard Goran Dragic as the Los Angeles Lakers are lurking in the weeds.

That’s the word from RealGM who says Los Angeles’ long standing interest will hit a head this summer when the Lakers plan to offer Dragic a four-year, $80 million dollar contract.

This of course assumes that Goran Dragic even becomes a free agent as it’s possible Dragic could be traded and re-signed by his new team before that ever occurs. Regardless, the Lakers and Rockets are interested.

If the Rockets are unable to trade for Dragic before the deadline, they plan on pursuing him in free agency. Dragic was let go by the Rockets in the 2012 free agency.

The Los Angeles Lakers also plan on testing the Suns’ resolve. Sources say the Lakers plan on offering Dragic a four-year, $80 million max contract this summer.

While the Lakers certainly need some talent, throwing a max contract at Goran Dragic might not be the best move. He’s a borderline All-Star and between that and Kobe Bryant‘s contract, the Lakers wouldn’t have much available cap room. They of course could wait another season for Bryant’s mega deal to expire, but that’s another year of wasting away in Hollywood.

Still, Goran Dragic is a solid target, both for the Rockets and Lakers.
