Kobe Bryant On Playing Beyond Next Season: ‘No’

Kobe Bryant

For some reason, Kobe Bryant wants us to think that he can quit basketball. But do we believe him? Nope.

I don’t know how many other NBA players hop in an helicopter and fly to their home arena to shoot baskets at 3 AM, but I’m guessing the list is rather short. Needless to say, the Los Angeles Lakers star breathes basketball.

But with his contract set to expire after the 2015-16 season, Kobe Bryant will have a decision to make. Will he continue to play in the NBA or will his basketball career be over?

According to Bryant himself, it’ll be time to hang up the sneakers. Maybe.

“As I sit here right now, do I want to play after next year? No. That could change.”

So Kobe Bryant doesn’t want to play beyond next season and will likely retire, but he’s reserving judgement to possibly change his mind. One might say that sounds a lot like Michael Jordan.

Of course, given the injuries Kobe Bryant has been dealing with it’s understandable that he’d currently think about walking away. Hopefully we’ll know if a final decision before next season as The Black Mamba certainly deserves an All-Star send off it he does intend to retire.
