Kobe Bryant Was Overworked Says Lakers Coach

It’s been a rough season for the Los Angeles Lakers as not only are they struggling, so is their star player Kobe Bryant.

Perhaps some of that can be blamed on Father Time, especially given how young Bryant was when he entered the league, but Byron Scott says he’s partly to blame for Bryant’s woes.

The NBA icon has seen his minutes reduced in recent weeks, something Scott is doing in effort to conserve Bryant’s legs as he admits he worked the Los Angeles Lakers star far too hard during the early portion of the season.

“I’m just trying to make up for all the minutes I played him early to get him more rest,” Scott said. “It was overload. My number was higher and I played to my number. That had a lot to do with him being worn down a little bit,” stated Scott.

Why exactly Scott felt the need to play Kobe Bryant so many minutes during the opening weeks of the season is still up for debate, though it’s possibly he was hoping the Los Angeles Lakers would have a strong start out of the gate.

Either way, it was clear things didn’t work out as not only did the Lakers stumble, so did the play of Bryant.
