Knicks, Lakers Talk Goran Dragic Trade With Suns

Goran Dragic

The Phoenix Suns seem to be going back and forth regarding their stance on trading Goran Dragic, but one thing is certain – they’re willing to listen.

Given that, the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers have both engaged in Goran Dragic trade talks with the Suns, though how deep those discussions went are unknown.

While both the Knicks and the Lakers have their nose in the deadline huddle, neither team seems overly close to making a deal.

Both clubs are watching the Goran Dragic situation in Phoenix, and both have made runs at the Suns.

Simply put, neither team has enough assets to lure Goran Dragic in a trade, especially since both will have plenty of money to throw at the point guard come free agency. The Lakers do have a nice lottery draft pick coming up, but there’s little reason to give such up for a player you could sign in just a few months so don’t expect them to offer that up. There’s also no reason to include young talent like Julius Randle either.

As for the Knicks, they’d like to move a player like Jose Calderon, but it’s tough to imagine that getting any type of traction from the Suns, especially given Calderon’s contract.

For now, it doesn’t look like either has the needed pieces to complete a Goran Dragic trade.
