Knicks Attempting To Trade Jose Calderon, Andrea Bargnani

New York Knicks

Coming into the 2015 season, the New York Knicks knew they’d be in the midst of a re-build or perhaps a ‘re-tooling’. That said, there was still hope they’d be able to compete for a playoff spot in the relatively top heavy Eastern Conference.

Little has gone as planned however as currently the New York Knicks are among the worst teams in the NBA and are destined for yet another trip to the lottery.

Given that, the team is reportedly looking to move some of their dead weight and are said to be shopping both Jose Calderon and Andrea Bargnani for a trade.

Neither player will be easy to move though Bargnani does have a hefty $11 million dollar expiring contract which could interest a few teams. Calderon meanwhile, while the more talented of the two, is a woeful player on the defensive side of the ball and is still owed upwards of $15 million dollars over the next two seasons (not including the current year).

Needless to say, the New York Knicks are going to have a difficult time attempting to rid themselves of either player, especially if they’re looking for anything of value in return. Then again, they did just trade J.R. Smith which seemed nearly impossible, so their front office can’t be completely counted out.

Still, it wouldn’t be shocking to see both players finish the season in the Big Apple despite the trade rumors.
