Even before the Cleveland Cavaliers traded for Kevin Love, there were rumors about his potential destination in free agency.
Would he really leave LeBron James though? To many that would seem hard to believe, but not according to two of ESPN’s biggest basketball analysts in Zach Lowe and Brian Windhorst, both of whom believe Kevin Love will leave the Cavs in free agency.
But where will he go? There has been talk about the Houston Rockets and Boston Celtics, but it’s the Los Angeles Lakers who are suggested to be waiting in the wings.
“Every executive I talk to, every agent I talk to, every quasi insider, every girlfriend’s cousin’s sister’s boyfriend all says this guy is out of there,” said Brian Windhorst during a podcast with Zach Lowe.
“I hear the same thing from everybody,” said Lowe. “From everyone that is two or three or four steps removed. I don’t quite believe all of that.”
“I agree,” replied Windhorst.
“Part of what’s going on there is the Lakers’ boogeyman,” said Lowe. “They don’t just say he’s out of there, they say ‘He’s going to the Lakers.’ That has much to do with the fear people have of the Lakers as it does with Kevin Love.”
This isn’t the first time Kevin Love has been linked to the Lakers and it won’t be the last, especially if Russell Westbrook gets an opportunity to become a free agent. Both are former stars at UCLA and it’s been suggested they’d like to team up in LA previously.
Still, it’s all rumors and whispers at this point though they continue to get louder by the day, even when Kevin Love attempts to dispel them.
