Kevin Durant Rumors: Interested In New York Knicks?

Kevin Durant

Assuming Kevin Durant is to become a free agent after the 2015-16 season, might the Oklahoma City Thunder leave for the bright lights of the Big Apple? It seems difficult to believe, but a report from the New York Daily News suggests Durant has interest in playing for the New York Knicks.

“No question about it,” a person close to Durant said, per the Daily News. “Kevin loves Carmelo Anthony. It could work in New York. But never rule out the Thunder.”

Durant has previously suggested he’s not a big glitz and glamor type of guy, so the attraction that comes with playing in Madison Square Garden doesn’t seem like a great fit for the Thunder star and reigning NBA MVP.

We’ve already heard suggestions that both the Washington Wizards (close to Kevin Durant’s hometown) and the Los Angeles Lakers are preparing full on red carpet treatment for the All-Star, assuming he does hit the market, though it seems hard to imagine him leaving the Thunder.

The backlash LeBron James suffered for leaving his team in free agency (twice) so was well noticed by those around the NBA, including Durant, so if he was to ditch the Thunder you’d have to assume it would only be for the most perfect of situations. Are the New York Knicks going to be that perfect situation? Seems unlikely.
