It wasn’t that long ago when Kevin Durant claimed he was the best player in the world and people agreed.
Durant and his Oklahoma City Thunder were looking like eventual NBA champions and LeBron James and his then Miami Heat looked mildly beatable. Of course, that quickly changed as the Heat became a powerhouse while Durant began dealing with a handful of nagging injuries.
Since that time, most would agree that it’s now James who is the best basketball player in the world, though Kevin Durant disagrees.
That’s because he, Kevin Durant says he’s the best player in the world, a sentiment he shared during a Nike Basketball promotional tour.
Nobody is really going to blame KD for such a suggestion, because frankly, he’s shown himself to be in that elite category before. Will he be able to return to such form as he returns from injury? Such remains to be seen, though, it’s not a tough argument to make.
Somewhere in LA though, Kobe Bryant is quietly mumbling to himself while Russell Westbrook still thinks he’s the best player on the Thunder.
