Kevin Durant: I Want To Retire With Oklahoma City Thunder

Kevin Durant

Much has been made about Kevin Durant‘s potential free agency in which many believe he could sign with his ‘hometown’ Washington Wizards. But Durant has kept relatively quiet about such, at least until now.

Pressed about the situation, the basketball star gave what might be his most definitive answer about his future stating that he wants to have his jersey retired with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki type. That’s awesome,” he said. “But you never know what the future holds sometimes and how teams may feel about you after a while, but I love it here and I would love to get my jersey retired here.”

No NBA team is going to retire the jersey of a player who leaves in the middle of their career, so you can’t help but grin if you’re a Thunder fan at the most recent Kevin Durant comments. Of course, things do change over time and nobody knows how Kevin Durant will feel in a season or two, but for now it seems as if his preference is to remain with the Thunder.

Should be interesting to see if Russell Westbrook, who is a free agent a year after Durant, shares a mutual feeling.
