NBA Rumors: James Harden, Russell Westbrook To ‘Team Up’ On Lakers?

Might we have the next ‘Big 3’ forming? According to some NBA executives, we might.

That’s because a handful of them believe Houston Rockets star James Harden will team up with his former Oklahoma City Thunder BFF Russell Westbrook.

The team that Russell Westbrook and James Harden will team up with? That remains a mystery, though, the obvious connection is the LA Lakers considering there have been rumors hinting that Westbrook, a former college basketball star at UCLA, would like to play in Southern California.

Per ESPN:

“They don’t have the same pull, but they do have the city, weather and off-the-court appeal,” one executive said. “Also, Kobe is only there for a short time, then you can be the face of the team.”

Said another executive: “The Lakers will always be a huge draw. They will be fine regardless. While losing Howard was not planned, they will still be in on anyone.”

And said another executive: “They just need one big guy to go there, and the rest will follow. I expect [Russell] Westbrook and [James] Harden to join forces there when they become free. It definitely still has allure. It’s still L.A., and they are still the Lakers. No free agent can question whether or not they will spend the money to win titles.”

We’re still a while away from this actually being possible and the likelihood of such taking place is rather small. Still, you can’t count it out either.

Would be one heck of a way to replace Kobe Bryant.
