Jahlil Okafor Impresses In Summer League Debut (Video)

Jahlil Okafor

Straight out of the frying pan into the fire. Or in the case of Jahlil Okafor, out of the NBA Draft to Summer League, the former Duke star looked every part of the potential franchise center he could be – at least for a day – as Okafor owned in his SL debut.

In the weeks leading up to the NBA Draft, many wondered if it would be Jahlil Okafor or Karl Anthony-Towns who would hear their name called first by Adam Silver, but in a shocking set of circumstances, Okafor ‘slipped’ past both the Timberwolves and LA Lakers, falling to the Philadelphia 76ers with the third overall pick.

Did they finally strike gold with the influx of big men like Nerlens Noel and Joel Embidd? It certainly looked that way as Jahlil Okafor put up 20 and 10 in his Summer League debut.

As is the case with any rookie, there were still some rough patches on the defensive end of the ball but offensively he looked very solid.

Few prospects were more offensively ready coming out of the draft than Okafor, who looked like he could score in double digits for the Sixers this season, assuming he gets enough floor time.

You never want to read too much into a SL performance, but there’s no doubt, Okafor looked very solid.
