Ice Cube Disses Clippers: Lakers Are Only LA Team

Lakers Court

Man, the Los Angeles Clippers just can’t get any love, at least when it comes to the Los Angeles Lakers or their fans.

Earlier this week Kobe Bryant gave a little praise to both Chris Paul and Blake Griffin on social media, but laughed off the idea of them becoming LA’s ‘team’. Now it’s rapper Ice Cube who suggested the same to TMZ.

The Westside Connect MC not only made fun of the Clippers team nickname – ‘Lob City’ – but suggested there’s zero way they’d ever overtake the Lakers as LA’s basketball team.

Despite the fact the Clippers are about to play in a Game 7 … and the Lakers are sitting at home … Cube told TMZ Sports “There’s only one team in L.A.”

So, does he have a point? Perhaps.

For all the good the Clippers have done in recent years, the Lakers have one of the strongest histories in all of sports. That’s tough to overtake, but it’s hard to deny what the Clippers have done and will likely continue to do under the leadership of Steve Balmer moving forward.

Regardless, poor record or not, the Lakers still do appear to be LA’s team – but the Clippers aren’t exactly the red-headed stepchild anymore either.
