If it seems like the Houston Rockets are always in the mix for the available star free agent each offseason, that’s because they are.
Now they’re looking to create a ‘big 3’ alongside both James Harden and Dwight Howard by signing either LaMarcus Aldridge or Kevin Love in NBA free agency.
That’s the word from Marc Stein of ESPN who says that while cap space isn’t the Rockets friend currently, they’ll likely find a way to put themselves into the mix.

Cap space is not Houston’s friend at the moment, but word is they will try to get in the mix for both Love and Aldridge as Rockets often do

Aldridge, a start with the Portland Trail Blazers, is a Texas native and has drawn heavy interest from both the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs, so it only makes sense the Houston Rockets would try to make such a move as well.
Kevin Love, meanwhile, has opted out of his contract with the Cavs and while he’s opening to re-signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers, is also willing to listen on potential free agent pitches.
