George Karl As Kings Head Coach Is Getting Close

George Karl

It’s been a rough season in Sacramento, but that could be changing soon as George Karl is close to accepting Kings head coach job.

The two sides have been negotiating all weekend long but the back and forth appears ready to end as according to Yahoo Sports, the decision is now in the hands of Sacramento’s ownership.

Star center DeMarcus Cousins has been thrown in the middle of the George Karl situation as reports surfaced suggesting his agents, who previously had issues with the legendary NBA head coach, didn’t want Karl coaching the Kings.

Cousins has suggested he doesn’t share such feelings though and it appears all parties are now on the same page, only waiting for ownership approval.

George Karl would be an incredible addition for the Sacramento Kings, who’ve had a head coaching turnstile since Rick Adelman was relieved of his duties back in 2006.

Sacramento had a hot start to the season as both Rudy Gay and Darren Collison helped Cousins and then head coach Michael Malone jump out to one of the NBA’s best records, though the team quickly fell flat and eventually canned Malone.

Karl has reportedly been eyed by the Kings for some time, though the team felt pressure to make a move once the Orlando Magic expressed interest in the former Denver Nuggets head coach.
