There was a time, not all that long ago, when Javaris Crittenton was thought to be a rising NBA star. But that flame quickly fizzled out after the basketball player was accused of murdering a 22-year-old mother of four named Julian Jones in 2011 after he spotted her walking with a man who had allegedly robbed him.
Crittenton, who played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards during his brief two-year NBA career opted to take a plea deal in his case which will now put him behind bars for the next 23-years.
That’s the word from WSB-TV who reports Crittenton says he wishes he could trade places with the woman and suggested everything that went down was an accident.
He told them he wishes he could change places with Jones. He called it a horrible accident.
Javaris Crittenton accepted a 23-year sentence as part of the deal.
Before the incident, Crittenton made headlines for allegedly bringing a gun to the Washington Wizards locker room after an argument with then teammate Gilbert Arenas, so you have to wonder where his mind was as that’s not normal behavior.
Unfortunately for Julian Jones, she was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
