Dwight Howard Calls Himself ‘Champion’ After Rockets Loss

Dwight Howard Kevin Garnett

You know, Dwight Howard seems like a pretty decent guy off the court, so it’s a little odd as to why so many fans and fellow NBA players dislike the Houston Rockets center.

Granted, his whine-fests as a member of the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers didn’t help his reputation, but what he did on Wednesday night might have soiled it even further.

That’s because Dwight Howard called himself a ‘champion’ after the Houston Rockets loss against the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals.

Actually, Dwight Howard said he’s ‘still a champion’ as if he’d actually won an NBA title or something before.

Yes, I get where Dwight Howard was going here and the Houston Rockets big man wasn’t attempting to put himself in the same breath as LeBron James or Kobe Bryant, but that was a pretty poor choice of words, especially coming from him.

It’s likely to be put on blast by a handful of analysts from this point forward, especially guys who’ve never won a ring like Charles Barkley and I’m guessing Dwight’s going to wish he never stated such.
