Poor Dion Waiters. The former Cavs guard who now plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder can’t catch a break. In addition to being shunned by LeBron James, Waiters was featured on every sports highlight show in the country on Monday night though it wasn’t for the right reasons.
Despite playing better basketball since the trade, Dion Waiters is still J.R. Smith Jr. and makes sure to remind us of such every so often.
Case in point, this relatively easy fast break against the Minnesota Timberwolves in which Waiters was all by himself. Literally, there was nobody on the same side of the court as he secured the basketball. Only problem? He never really had it.
Sure, it was bouncing around in his hands but he was treating the rock like a burning hot potato. Needless to say, the fast break didn’t go so well and the end result was highly embarrassing.
Now, Dion Waiters could have saved face if he just would have taken a moment, got his footing and laid the ball in the basket. But in a panic he tried to rush his shot and not only ended up flubbing the fast break but also missed the extremely easy shot.
