David West Laughs At Idea Of Playing For New York Knicks

The New York Knicks, much like their big market neighbors on the opposite coast, Los Angeles Lakers, have struck out so far in NBA free agency.

That doesn’t mean all hope is lost though because David West, who recently opted out of his contract with the Indiana Pacers, is said to have interest in signing with the New York Knicks.

Or not, apparently, as David West laughed at the idea of playing for the New York Knicks, suggesting such was ‘ridiculous’.

“At this point in my career, I just want to win,” West told WTHR.com in an exclusive interview Wednesday night. “I’m just not sure the Pacers are in title contention right now. I’m going into my 13th season. I’ll be 35 soon. When I got to Indiana, there was hope of getting there and we played at a really high level for a couple of years. But I just don’t know if the team is in the position to win right now and I didn’t know if I’d have that opportunity to win a title if I’d stayed with the Pacers.”

Well, if David West decided to leave the Indiana Pacers in NBA free agency because he wants to join a contender, there’s clearly no way he could sign with the New York Knicks.

Of course, money talks so we’ll see if his desire to play for a contender remains true or if a hefty paycheck will change his mind. But as of now, it looks like Carmelo Anthony might want to start looking for another new teammate.
