As we speak, the Dallas Mavericks are trying to sign Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan in one of the bigger NBA free agency moves.
Of course, the Mavs aren’t alone in such a pursuit and could miss out on signing Jordan, though, they’re said to have a backup plan in place.
That’s because the Mavs are said to have interest in a salary dump trade for Indiana Pacers big man Roy Hibbert.
Larry Bird and the Pacers have been trying to unload Roy Hibbert for quite some time, so it likely wouldn’t cost the Dallas Mavericks much in terms of assets as few teams have been willing to absorb the hefty Roy Hibbert contract.
Source says Mavs would consider a salary-dump deal for Roy Hibbert if DeAndre Jordan doesn’t choose Dallas. But still hopeful about DJ.

Of course, the Mavs are hoping that they can use their available cash to lure DeAndre Jordan to Big D as not only does it make them a much improved team and gives Dirk Nowitzki some serious rim protection, but it also weakens a fellow Western Conference opponent in the Los Angeles Clippers.
Hibbert isn’t a horrible consolation prize, however.
