Clippers, Suns, Celtics Agree On Three Team Trade

For days the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics worked on a trade that would send Austin Rivers to Hollywood where he’d be able to play for his father. Only problem? The numbers were pretty complicated and a third team was needed to complete the deal.

Today that third team was found as the Phoenix Suns stepped in.

According to RealGM, Shavlik Randolph has been traded to the Boston Celtics with Reggie Bullock heading to the Phoenix Suns. As anticipated, Austin Rivers will make his way to the Los Angeles Clippers.

The big winners here are likely the Suns and Clippers with the Celtics taking a risk on Randolph’s limited potential (though it’s a very cheap risk). Phoenix picks up yet another talented, young shooter while the Clippers add more shooting depth from outside. Perhaps playing under Doc Rivers will spark Austin into the player many hoped he’d become out of college.

As for the Celtics, they had little use for Austin Rivers so it was best they obtain some type of asset for him and it was safe to assume they weren’t going to get much in return. Randolph should get some run in Beantown and allow the front office to see if he has anything he can bring to the table.
