Assuming the Chicago Bulls re-sign Jimmy Butler, as has been widely reported, some financial moves may need to take place so Derrick Rose, Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah and the rest of the roster can financially cohabit.
Sadly, that might come at the expense of Taj Gibson, who has been rumored to be on the trade block for quite some time.
Nobody knows when a trade is coming, but Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders believes that the Chicago Bulls will eventually trade Taj Gibson.
I also think at some point they trade Taj Gibson, so that could return something interesting.
The line of reasoning here is pretty simple – clean up the salary cap (especially with the expectations that it will rise in the near future) and get something in return for Taj Gibson, who while a very solid player, is regulated to bench duty in the Windy City now thanks to last seasons addition of Gasol.
It’s been previously suggested that the Bulls have held trade discussions centered around Taj Gibson, but refused to part with the big man as they couldn’t secure an offer they were happy with.
Should be interesting to see if they’ll be able to get something more to their liking in a Taj Gibson trade, though, such may not happen until the NBA trade deadline.
