Cavs Rumors: LeBron James Still Recruiting Ray Allen

Ray Allen

After a relatively slow start to the season, the Cleveland Cavaliers appear to have finally got on track. Much of that probably has to do with LeBron James returning from injury, though getting hurt wasn’t all bad for James and the Cavs. In fact, it gave him time to recruit former Miami Heat teammate Ray Allen, who continues to sit in the free agent pool.

Allen was expected to sign with the Cavs before the season began though for whatever reason opted not to do so. Now LeBron James is doing what he can to bring Allen to the Cavs as he continues to recruit the veteran sharpshooter.

During James’ Miami jaunt, the four-time MVP met with free-agent guard and former Miami Heat teammate Ray Allen to try to appeal to the league’s all-time leader in 3-pointers again about joining the Cavs this season, multiple sources told ESPN.com.

While Ray Allen is not the player he once was, he can still sit in the corner and rain three-point shots on the opposition all day long so it’s understandable as to why James would like Allen coming off the Cavs bench.

Cleveland will only be able to offer Ray Allen a cheap, one-year contract though the veteran isn’t looking so much for money as he is an opportunity to win another ring.
