Cavs Rumors: LeBron James ‘Gave Up’ On Dion Waiters

LeBron James

When LeBron James opted to leave the Miami Heat in free agency and return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, one of his first orders of business was to make contact with Dion Waiters. James defended the young guard relentlessly though apparently tired of his act eventually.

That’s the word from Ohio.com who says James could no longer defend what Dion Waiters was (or wasn’t) bringing to the Cavs.

LeBron James tried to make it work. He tried to draw Waiters close to him dating back to early in the preseason, defending him and telling reporters Waiters for years was the scapegoat for all that went wrong with the Cavs. Yet by the end, James had given up on him, too. Waiters said Saturday he has heard from Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson since the trade. He has not heard from LeBron.

Of course, when James decided to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kevin Love wasn’t in town yet and it was to be, Irving and Waiters who made up the Cavs’ “big three”. Once the team acquired Love though, Waiters’ already reduced role was regulated into bench duty which didn’t sit well with the volume scorer.

Not exactly what the Cavs needed, they opted to ship the former No. 4 overall pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder were he seems to be enjoying life more. Seemingly, a win-win for all parties involved.
