Carmelo Anthony Scared To Sit On Knicks Bench?

Carmelo Anthony

I’ve heard a lot of odd and sometimes shocking stories come out of the NBA, especially when it comes to the New York Knicks. But this one might take the cake for the most unique as apparently, Carmelo Anthony is scared to sit on the Knicks’ bench.

At first I would have assumed that to be because he doesn’t want to deal with any potential fan backlash. That would be understandable. Why any fans would give him such grief is unknown, but it’s likely to happen regardless.

But afraid to sit on the New York Knicks bench because he might injure himself? That can’t be a legit reason, can it? According to the New York Post, it can.

Coach Derek Fisher said he was’t sure of the reasons, but a Knicks official later said it was due to the fear of a hustling player crashing into the bench where Anthony might be sitting. Anthony’s surgery took place six weeks ago. It’s unclear if he will be on the bench by the time the season ends April 15.

I mean, there’s really no real reason that Carmelo Anthony needs to sit on the New York Knicks bench considering he’s currently rehabbing his injury, but that’s certainly an odd way to justify it. In fact, I don’t think anybody would really care if Melo wasn’t sitting there as he’s hurt but as everything with the Knicks, it turns into a weird story.
