Phoenix Suns Have Significant Interest In Amare Stoudemire

Amare Stoudemire

It appears the Dallas Mavericks aren’t the only team with eyes on Amar’e Stoudemire if he’s to receive a buyout from the New York Knicks as the Phoenix Suns are said to have ‘significant interest’ in the power forward.

Amare Stoudemire, who of course starred with the Suns before signing with the Knicks, has struggled with injury and rumors of a potential buy out have been suggested for weeks as his contract will finally come to a conclusion at season end.

For what it’s worth, Amare Stoudemire’s agent says there’s been no talk of a buyout at this time, though it’s likely to come once the NBA’s trade deadline passes.

If the former All-Star is bought out, the Phoenix Suns want in.

While Stoudemire is no longer the player he once was, he can be effective (at least from an offensive point) for short bursts of time, so assuming he’s willing to take a reduced, bench scoring role he’d probably work out well for the Mavs or Suns assuming he remains healthy.

Of course, healthy and Amare Stoudemire are like oil and water and New York Knicks fans are likely just thrilled the disaster of a signing which has crippled the franchise is finally ending.
