Yoan Moncada rumors: Padres expected to make aggressive bid after private workout.

Apparently, you can’t stop the San Diego Padres as they’re determined to not only be a threat in the National League West this season, but they have visions of contending for a World Series crown.

Not only have they signed James Shields and traded for both Matt Kemp and Wil Myers, now the Padres have scheduled a workout for Yoan Moncada and plan to make an aggressive bid for the Cuban sensation.

Just a few days ago it was thought the Padres’ I-5 rival, the Los Angeles Dodgers would be the favorites to sign the 19-year-old as the Yoan Moncada rumors swirl, but perhaps it’s now the Padres sitting in the drivers seat.

At minimum, they’re certainly in the chase for Moncada and appear to have a very serious chance at signing the highly touted prospect.

One team who appears out of the race (which is extra good news for the Padres) are the San Francisco Giants, who appeared to distance themselves from the Yoan Moncada rumors this weekend during their annual fan fest.

Yoan Moncada won’t come cheaply, but the San Diego Padres oddly enough don’t appear overly interested in financial concerns right now.
