Yankees Twitter Account Ignores ARod After First Home Run

Alex Rodriguez

Yesterday afternoon, Alex Rodriguez hit his first home run of the spring. And while that might not be the top story on the evening news, it’s certainly worthy of a mention on the New York Yankees Twitter feed, correct?

You’d have to think so considering the Bronx Bombers mentioned RBI’s from Carlos Beltran and Jacoby Ellsbury, but alas, there was no mention of ARod at all.

That struck many on social media a bit odd and lead to a handful of baseball fans to lash out at the Yankees for completely ignoring Alex Rodriguez on social media.

However, the New York Yankees say they’re not to blame and they don’t even run/control the account which is handled by MLB Advanced Media.

“It was very much an unintended error,” a team spokesman said. “Alex is and will be treated like every other Yankees player.”

In fairness to the Bronx Bombers, it appears to be a case of wrong place, wrong time, though you can’t help but wonder if at some point there were some instructions to ignore ARod handed down. I mean, completely ignoring his first home run of the spring is a bit odd, no matter how you slice it.
