Unless you’re accusing David Ortiz of taking steroids, the Boston Red Sox icon is a pretty amusing and fun guy.
We didn’t need Sunday night to teach us that, though you probably got wind of such if you were watching Ortiz’s Red Sox take on the New York Yankees in the Bronx.
With Ortiz on second base, the hefty designated hitter looked back in the outfield to judge their positions, which is where he noticed Jacoby Ellsbury.
Ellsbury of course left the Red Sox in free agency last year and signed a seven-year, $153 million dollar contract. That prompted David Ortiz to scream out ‘hey rich bitch’ to the Yankees outfielder which the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball camera picked up.
Of course, the mocking was all in good fun as both David Ortiz and Jacoby Ellsbury are good friends and there was nothing behind the insult. At least, I don’t think there was.
Perhaps the funniest part of the whole video was Ellsbury actually acknowledging the ‘diss’ from Big Papi as he gave a head nod to his former Red Sox teammate.
Only David Ortiz could make the intense Red Sox – Yankees rivalry a little more light hearted, but in the most funny and mildly mocking of ways.
