Nationals’ Jayson Werth Signs Autographs In Jail? (Photo)

Jayson Werth

When you’re a professional baseball player spending five days in jail for reckless driving, you probably have a lot of time to think. Apparently, you also have some time to sign some autographs.

As you’ll recall, Werth was sentenced to his short stint in the county pokey late last month and decided to serve his time before spring training. Also in jail was a Reddit user who just happened to be a Washington Nationals fan and met Jayson Werth as he was preparing to get checked out.

That’s when he allegedly asked the outfielder to autograph his inmate handbook.

I’m not sure if this is the best or saddest thing I’ve ever seen, but I’m going to go with the former.

First off, the balls needed to ask Werth (who was probably rather unhappy) for an autograph in such a situation is awesome. Secondly, what’s the Washington Nationals outfielder going to say? No? Is denying an autograph worth a potential jail shanking?

In all seriousness, it’s actually pretty cool of Jayson Werth assuming the autograph is real and judging from his signature, it certainly appears that way.

I've written on a lot of your favorite websites while I live in my mother's basement. If you only knew what a hard time I'm having holding these alligators down. Woo. | Twitter: @GuyHut | FB: @GuyHutSports
