Troy Tulowitzki Rumors: Rockies ‘Unlikely’ To Make Trade For Now

Troy Tulowitzki

There may be a point this season where the Colorado Rockies finally give up the ghost on Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez by trading their superstar talents, but that time hasn’t come just yet.

Despite an offseason which suggested both could be involved in a trade (the New York Mets were said to have significant Tulo interest), Rockies GM Jeff Bridich told Jon Morosi a deal involving either is very unlikely before the season.

The verbiage there is of some interest though – before the season. Bridich wouldn’t go as far as to suggest he has zero plans to trade either Troy Tulowitzki or Carlos Gonzalez, nor should he. While others in the organization (namely ownership) have been more hesitant to suggest a trade could be possible, Bridich knows for the Colorado Rockies to compete in the National League West they’ll need to bring in some elite prospects.

Few teams have bigger stars to move and you almost have to think it’s a matter of time until the Rockies move at least one, if not both players considering they’re likely to find themselves battling with the Arizona Diamondbacks for last place yet again, healthy or not.

Trading superstars is never easy, but eventually the time comes for all big name players, especially if the franchise is struggling so badly.
