Texas Rangers Sign Ryan Ludwick To One Year Contract

Ryan Ludwick

While the Cleveland Indians may have had some interest in outfielder Ryan Ludwick, it’s the Texas Rangers who’ve come away with the addition as Anthony Andro reports the two sides have agreed on a one-year contract.

Now 36-years-old, Ludwick was on the radar of a few teams but ultimately decided the best situation for him would be in Arlington and it’s hard to suggest otherwise given he’ll be playing half of his home games at Globe Life Park.

It’s a pretty solid deal for the Texas Rangers considering they’ll only have to cough up $1.75 million dollars for Ryan Ludwick, and that’s assuming he makes the final roster. If he doesn’t, they’re essentially out nothing more than a few spring training dollars.

The outfielder has dealt with injury over the past few seasons, though just two years ago clobbered 26 home runs for the Cincinnati Reds. He’s unlikely to return to form, but, he could be a serviceable bat off the bench and brings with him the threat of a long ball.

You can’t really ask for much more at that type of price, though he still needs to make the roster first.
