Texas Rangers Invite Joey Gallo To Spring Training

Joey Gallo

When the Texas Rangers head to Spring Training this season, they’ll bring with them one of the best prospects in baseball as they plan to invite Joey Gallo to camp. Such a move was expected, though was confirmed by Jeff Wilson recently.

He will join a handful of other top Texas Rangers prospects, though understandably all the noise and commotion will be centered around Gallo.

An absolute beast with the bat, Joey Gallo crushed 42 home runs last season between High-A Myrtle Beach and Double-A Frisco. Unfortunately he also struck out a significant amount of times which dropped his average to a sub par .271 considering the factors. Still, at just 21-years-old, Joey Gallo will likely be a fixture of the Texas Rangers franchise in the relatively near future.

That won’t be this season though as despite the Spring Training invite, it’s extremely unlikely Gallo will make the big league roster. Simply put Texas just wants to give him a small taste of what’s to come and also wants him to work with their major league coaching staff.

Gallo will need to improve his discipline at the plate and is likely at minimum a year away from contributing at the Major League level, though his potential is off the charts.
