Stephen Strasburg Rumors: Would Like Nationals To Trade Him?

On Sunday afternoon news surfaced suggesting the Washington Nationals would entertain the idea of trading Stephen Strasburg. Not long after, Max Scherzer signed a seven-year contract with Washington which lead to even more rampant speculation that Strasburg could be the odd man out in D.C.

Now it appears as if Stephen Strasburg is ready to continue his MLB career elsewhere as he believes it’s time to move on according to John Perrotto.

While it’s not a trade demand (even a soft trade demand) it’s still a little odd to hear that Strasburg would like a change of scenery considering how talented the Washington Nationals. Combine that with being part of an elite starting pitching staff (assuming Jordan Zimmermann isn’t traded with current rumors suggesting the Milwaukee Brewers are interested) and it’s big question mark as to why Strasburg would like out, assuming the report is true.

Regardless, Strasburg may feel he’s worthy of ace status and doesn’t want to be third in line behind Scherzer and Zimmermann which could effectively potentially hurt his price tag when he does eventually become a free agent.
