Rockies Will Not Trade Troy Tulowitzki To Mets

Troy Tulowitzki

Dancing through the dreams of most New York Mets fans is Troy Tulowitzki taking the field on Opening Day at Citi Field. It’s a beautiful image, but one that won’t happen. That’s the word from Colorado Rockies owner Charlie Monfort who told the New York Post there is no chance of trading Tulo to the Mets or any other team for that matter.

“It’s not happening. I can’t speak for him, but yeah, we want him. I think he’s strong and he’s worked hard and he’ll be back. He’ll be Tulo of old.”

Of course, Monfort is technically the Rockies co-owner and doesn’t have complete final say nor is he the general manager. That said, he still has plenty enough pull to make a Troy Tulowitzki trade extremely difficult if he doesn’t want to agree on an eventual deal.

The most likely scenario is that the Rockies simply didn’t get the type of package they had hoped for when they somewhat placed Tulowitzki on the trade block earlier this offseason and now are doing what they can to mend fences.

Either way, even if the Colorado Rockies do change their stance eventually it doesn’t appear as if a trade will be coming before the season so the New York Mets will likely have to focus their efforts elsewhere for the time being. And hey, that’s not the worst thing given his injury woes, hefty salary and needed compensation which would likely include big prospects like Noah Syndergaard and/or Brandon Nimmo.
