The once happy marriage between Pablo Sandoval and the Boston Red Sox appears to be over.
Sandoval, a former fan favorite with the San Francisco Giants, signed a massive contract to play in Beantown this past offseason and many hoped he’d be the next star to take over for David Ortiz.
So far though, Sandoval has struggled on both sides of the ball and has previously been benched for a lack of performance. Now Pablo Sandoval has been benched again, though this time for liking Instagram pictures…during a Boston Red Sox game.
Per Business Insider:
Producers for the “Dennis and Callahan Show” on WEEI in Boston determined that the activity occurred while the Red Sox were batting in the 7th inning. Sandoval was due up sixth that inning.
Sandoval met with the media on Thursday and confirmed that he was the one using the account, saying he went to the bathroom and grabbed his phone on the way.
What was Pablo Sandoval doing in the bathroom looking at Instagram and liking pictures of women? I – actually wait – nevermind, I don’t want to know.
In all seriousness though, just when you thought Pablo Sandoval’s initial season with the Boston Red Sox couldn’t fall from grace any further…
I have a feeling there are lot of San Francisco Giants fans saying “I told you so” and happy they avoided that near $100 million dollar contract.
