Padres, Braves Bench Brawl: Umpire Tackles Matt Kemp (Video)

Temperatures have been rising over the past few days during the San Diego Padres – Atlanta Brave series and I’m not talking about the weather.

Showboating and pitches up and in have put both sides on alert and today things boiled over on getaway day.

Just 11-pitches into the game, Matt Kemp was hit by a  Julio Teheran fastball. The beaning didn’t sit well with Kemp, who began to jaw back and forth with Teheran before the two looked like a fight was going to break out.

That sent both the Padres and Braves benches spilling onto the field for an expected brawl, which featured the home plate umpire tackling Matt Kemp in attempt to prevent such.

Thankfully between that and help from managers from both sides of the field, there wasn’t much of a fight between the Padres and Braves though I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of these issues.

Even if there is no more action today, I’d expect another bench clearing brawl at some point when these two teams meet again later this season.

I've written on a lot of your favorite websites while I live in my mother's basement. If you only knew what a hard time I'm having holding these alligators down. Woo. | Twitter: @GuyHut | FB: @GuyHutSports
