New York Yankees Interested In Johan Santana

Johan Santana

It’s been four seasons since Johan Santana pitched effectively at the Major League level, yet there are still plenty of teams who believe in the southpaw.

One such team are the New York Yankees who are said to have interest in the former All-Star arm.

Multiple front offices were in attendance to see Johan Santana’s recent workout and the Yankees appeared to come away impressed.

Nevertheless, the Yankees remain intrigued by the possibility of bringing in Santana and will “keep an eye on him,” according to a source.

This isn’t the first time the Yankees have shown interest in Santana as he was a target of the team last season before he signed with the Baltimore Orioles.

During his last full season, back in 2010, Johan Santana was as dominate as ever en route to posting an impressive 2.98 ERA in 199 innings. He then missed the 2011 season before partially returning for the 2012 campaign which was sub par by his standards, finishing with a 4.85 ERA in 117 innings.

Santana is an extreme injury risk though he should come relatively cheap considering such and could be a solid addition to the New York Yankees starting rotation if the price is right. He can’t be counted on, of course, though perhaps the Bronx Bombers believe they can capture lightning in a bottle.
