MLB Rumors: Pirates, Padres Talking Justin Upton Trade?

The Pittsburgh Pirates look poised for a deep postseason run, though, like many teams they could use an additional power bat. That’s where the struggling San Diego Padres come into play as they’re reportedly looking to trade a handful of players like Craig Kimbrel and Matt Kemp.

That list also includes Justin Upton, who is said to be a target of the Pirates as we approach the MLB trade deadline.

According to Jon Morosi, the Pittsburgh Pirates are interested in a Justin Upton trade, however, they’re currently awaiting to see how serious Jody Mercer’s injury is before making any type of deal.

While Justin Upton shouldn’t cost much in terms of prospects, the Pittsburgh Pirates will not be alone in their pursuit of Justin Upton as multiple teams are also said to be bidding on the outfielder including the New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles.

Still, it appears as if Justin Upton’s time with the San Diego Padres is coming to a very quick close.
