MLB Rumors: Nationals, A’s Talk Ben Zobrist Trade

Poor Ben Zobrist – the man just can’t get comfortable.

Of course, he probably knew that once he was traded to the Oakland Athletics last season,  he’d likely be shipped out again considering the A’s almost always trade away their veterans. And he’s likely to be correct, though, a deal could happen sooner than expected.

While many believe a Ben Zobrist trade would come near the deadline, Ken Rosenthal reports the A’s and Nationals are talking about deal for the utility man.

The said deal, which is not close to being completed, would allow the Nats to place Zobrist in the outfield for the injured Jayson Werth and then use him in his usual utility role once everybody is healthy.

While we don’t know the asking price, as of yet, you have to assume it’s pretty hefty considering Ben Zobrist is likely to be one of the bigger and more in demand names on the trade market.

The A’s really don’t need to sell low on him, so it’s likely they’ll wait out for the highest bidder though it’s evident the already talented Nationals are trying to get even deeper.
