Milwaukee Brewers, K-Rod Discussing Contract?

Francisco Rodriguez

Might the Milwaukee Brewers have a new closer? Well, a new, former closer? Perhaps as Francisco Rodriguez, better known as K-Rod is reportedly speaking to the Brewers about a new deal.

Rodriguez has spent the offseason looking for a multi-year deal with some reports suggesting he desired over $10 million dollars a season. It’s easy to see why he’s unemployed given those demands, but could be open to re-signing with the Brewers on a one year contract.

Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reports the two sides have been talking about a reunion.

While the Brewers understandably want to avoid any long-term commitment to K-Rod, if they can bring him in for just a season, you can’t but think it’s a solid move. There aren’t many closers left on the open market (sans Rafael Soriano) and trading for Jonathan Papelbon appears to be too costly, so Francisco Rodriguez may be the Brewers best bet.

K-Rod was nothing short of lights out for Milwaukee during the first half of the season though seemingly became gassed after the All-Star break. Still, if he can replicate his success from last year most would be happy with the results.
