James Shields Rumors: Milwaukee Brewers Interested

James Shields

Multiple teams have been linked to James Shields in recent days, especially after rumors of a potential price tag drop occurred. You can now add the Milwaukee Brewers to that list as they’re reportedly not only considering making an effort to sign James Shields, but other players as well.

That’s the word from Jon Heyman who reports names like Rafael Soriano, Francisco Rodriguez and more are on the table – even potential trades.

The Brewers have of course been linked to Jordan Zimmermann of the Washington Nationals as well, so perhaps that’s the trade noise Heyman is referring to. Either way, with multiple holes to fill it appears as if the Milwaukee Brewers front office is looking to make some things happen.

James Shields would certainly be a solid addition to the starting pitching rotation, especially after recently trading former ace Yovani Gallardo and wouldn’t cost the prospects that Zimmermann would in a trade. Of course, Shields does come with draft pick compensation so the Brewers would have to forfeit a draft selection to sign him currently. Combine that with his price tag and it could be too rich for Milwaukee’s blood, though the interest is apparently there.
