Houston Astros Discussing Colby Rasmus Contract

The Houston Astros now have a void in center field after trading Dexter Fowler to the Chicago Cubs, one they may opt to fill with former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Colby Rasmus.

Currently 28-years-old, Rasmus hasn’t exactly lived up to his expectations though is just a year removed from a very solid campaign in which he hit a respectable .276 with a .338 OBP in addition to hitting 22 home runs in just 118 games.

That type of talent is enough for the budget minded Houston Astros to apparently take a chance on as they currently are said to be in contractual negotiations with Rasmus.

It’s one of two moves currently being heavily considered by the Astros as they’re also said to be in deep discussions with former San Francisco Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong.

Colby Rasmus is by no stretch a big name talent nor is he the type to put people in the seats, however when he’s healthy he has proven himself to be a very solid contributor. Of course staying healthy has proven to be a problem as he’s only played over 125 games once since the 2010 season.
