The Dodgers are interested in Rafael Soriano and Francisco Rodriguez (K-Rod) as their closer.
With news that closer Kenley Jansen will miss the next 8 to 12 weeks after undergoing foot surgery, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in a scramble to find a replacement closer. There are some internal options that could be considered though some believe Los Angeles could be looking into the free agent pool.
That includes Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times who expects the Dodgers to check in on both Rafael Soriano and Francisco Rodriguez, better known as ‘K-Rod’.
How deep their interest is for either of the closers is unknown, though they’d obviously be very solid additions to handle Kenley Jansen’s closing spot until the fireballer returns to the mound later this season.
#Dodgers will check in on K-Rod/Soriano in wake of Jansen injury, but seems more likely to me they add a middle reliever (1/2) …

The biggest issue here is money. Francisco Rodriguez is said to be seeking at least $10 million dollars and it’s likely Rafael Soriano isn’t far behind. Of course, the Los Angeles Dodgers tend to have pockets a mile deep and can technically afford such, though wanting to is a completely different story.
Perhaps they may prefer to go with an in-house option when all is said and done though there at least going to kick the tires on Soriano and K-Rod.
