Could Johnny Cueto be on his way out of the Cincinnati Reds organization? While it’s extremely unlikely any deal takes place in the coming weeks or even months, there is belief that Cueto could be traded before the July deadline.
That’s the feeling of the New York Post who predicts Johnny Cueto is the most likely player to be shipped out this summer.
Most likely to be traded during the season: Johnny Cueto. The Reds are a strong bet to stink in the improved NL Central. Cueto can be this year’s Jon Lester.
There aren’t going to be a lot of big name pitchers available in the trade market, especially if Jordan Zimmermann gets dealt before July. Assuming that is to happen, it’s very possible that Johnny Cueto could be the biggest available pitcher and the Cincinnati Reds would be smart to cash in on such, assuming the price is right.
Such a move could be pushed back (or ignored all together) if the Reds are playing well come the deadline and are in position for a playoff birth, or expedited if they stumble out of the gate. Either way, it’s very possible Johnny Cueto could be playing his final season with the Cincinnati Reds.
