Cincinnati Reds Fire Forces Fans To Evacuate Game

The Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants were minding their business on Friday night when smoke started to billow out of center field.

That smoke quickly turned to visible flames and some fans in the area began to grow concerned.

It all started when one of the Cincinnati Reds famous fireworks stacks caught ablaze. That lead to the team eventually asking fans to evacuate the area so fire crews could put the blaze out.

Moments later, two ladders from a local Cincinnati fire department were raised up to the smokestack and two firefighters climbed aboard the structure and put out the blaze. The San Francisco Giants, who were batting during the inning, appeared to have no problem with what was going on and played through the incident with guys like Buster Posey and Brandon Belt having big games.

It didn’t ever appear that any baseball fans were in danger during the Cincinnati Reds fire and the team was just doing the smart thing and keeping fans safe as possible. Still, I’m not sure how comfortable I’d be with open flames above my head either.

The fire was put out a few minutes later with the firemen tearing apart a portion of the structure to keep any hot spots from flaring up.

I've written on a lot of your favorite websites while I live in my mother's basement. If you only knew what a hard time I'm having holding these alligators down. Woo. | Twitter: @GuyHut | FB: @GuyHutSports
